Where are you based and how do you take advantage of our remote first policy?
Currently based in San Diego, CA, but planning on moving to a more affordable housing market. Our remote first policy allows me to make a cross-country move without having to say goodbye!

1.5 years so far!

In my free time, I enjoying playing guitar and drums, working on electronics projects, and spending time with my 3 cats.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Guitar
Though I’m not nearly as good as I’d like to be, after years of playing, guitar helps me relax, think clearly, and allows me to constantly learn more.

Cocktail Meatballs and Rice (Meatballs, Chili Sauce, and Grape Jelly).
What is one of your proudest career moments while working at Ocient?
A few months after joining Ocient, I had the opportunity to go through my first SOC 2 Type II Audit. Though I’d only been here a few months, we were able to finish the audit with zero findings.

More than anywhere I’ve worked before, anyone at any level can voice their thoughts and concerns about changes at Ocient. Everyone has an opportunity to make suggestions and affect the organization in a positive way.
What career advice would you give your younger self?
Leveraging the skills, experience, and drive of others in the organization can have a greater impact on security than what a security professional or security team can accomplish alone. A good first step is effectively communicating threats, risks, controls, and changes.
Would you like to give an employee shoutout?
Ethan Wozniak — Having a manager that understands just about everything currently happening or has happened at Ocient has been a massive help to accomplishing everything I have so far!
