Where are you based and how do you take advantage of our remote first policy?
I’m currently based in Columbia, South Carolina. Being a remote employee has allowed me to live and work all over the country.
How long have you been with Ocient?
My 3-year anniversary is coming up in March 2025.
What are some things you like to do in your free time?
I love reading, playing video games, going to new restaurants with my foodie friends and snuggling with my cats.
What’s the next place you’d like to check off your travel bucket list?
I want to do the Lord of the Rings tour in New Zealand. You camp and hike across the country while following in the fellowships footsteps. Sounds breathtaking.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Books. I love all books. If it sounds like I might enjoy it, I’m adding it to a list or cracking the spine and starting to read it immediately.

What’s your go-to comfort food?
Spaghetti. It makes me think of childhood and a warm hug on a bad day.
What is one of your proudest career moments while working at Ocient?
My proudest moment at Ocient is successfully sourcing and hiring a Database Architect. It’s an extremely specialized role and had been opened multiple times in the past with no success. I was able to open and fill it within 3 months.
What career advice would you give your younger self?
Be open to learning something new every day, even if its learning from a mistake. Embrace challenges and change, they’ll drive you to the next level every time. Work-life balance is important, it will make you a better employee and a better human. Admit when you’re wrong, it’s how we grow. Ask the stupid questions.
