Ocient works very hard to bring our customers the very best in hyperscale data analytics solutions, and a large part of how we are able to do so is through our Customer Solutions Delivery Team. This team is responsible for designing and implementing technical solutions that meet client requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner. We were excited to speak with the Team Lead, Anitha Rao, for this month’s employee spotlight.
Let’s learn more about Anitha’s background and see how she fits into her role here at Ocient.
Where are you based and how do you take advantage of our remote first policy?
I am based out of Bangalore, India. I was the first employee to be hired on to Ocient’s India Team. Ocient’s remote first policy allows me to have a great work-life balance. I cut down on commute time into the office and utilize it productively.
How long have you been with Ocient?
I have been with Ocient for one year and three months.
What are some things you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy reading regional Indian literature. I have a huge collection of novels by my favorite authors. Particularly, I am huge fan of Kannada novelist S. L. Bhyrappa. Kannada is one of the regional languages of South India.
What’s your go-to comfort food?
I love South-Indian cuisine. Rice and Dal would be my comfort food.
What is one (or some) of your proudest moments while working at Ocient?
In regards to a specific use case, a customer was looking to re-platform all of their complex ETL workload running on Netezza to a scalable and cost-effective solution. The existing Netezza system had to be decommissioned sooner, so we were dealing with an aggressive timeline of 2 months.
Our team was able to flawlessly re-platform the entire Netezza workload to Ocient in less than 2 months. Further, we went on to re-platform huge workloads from Mainframe to Ocient in a short amount of time which benefitted the customer by reducing their op-ex costs. This journey is very special to me.
What do you find unique about working at Ocient?
I get to work with incredibly talented people. I see “excellence at work” on a day-to-day basis.
It is fascinating to witness top class people provide solutions to extremely complex data problems using transformational technology, and I am proud to be a part of this group.
Would you like to give an employee shoutout to someone who has inspired you or helped you out along the way?
I had worked with Selva Varadharajan in my previous organization. A couple of years later, he reached out to me about an opportunity with Ocient. Getting to work with Selva again was the biggest reason for me to join the team. Working on his team means there will be a lot of learning and fun.
I would also like to give a shout out to Shantan Kethireddy, VP of Customer Solutions, for creating a positive work environment and inspiring all of us.
