The amount of data created, captured, copied, and consumed continues to grow exponentially. According to Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) research, data growth has become a constant, with 31% of recent survey respondents reporting that their organization’s total volume of data is growing by 21% to 50% annually, and 28% of survey respondents reporting data is growing more than 50% annually.

In addition, it has become obvious that data is central to all businesses in one form or another, with 21% of organizations saying that their core products and services are data-based. As such, organizations should treat data as an asset that must be de-risked, protected, made compliant, and leveraged.
